Mr. Bee and I are going to join a gym as soon as we move because summer is just round the corner and we’ve both put on weight since getting married. Our options are the New York Sports Clubs, Equinox, and a local gym called The Printing House.
When I was a member of Crunch, I never went because it was too far (a 20 minute walk). Then I discovered that there was a gym in our apartment complex and joined… but I admit I was still too lazy to go. So my lazy ass needs all the incentive I can get. Equinox is prolly out of the question because it’s 7 blocks away; NYSC and Printing House are half the distance.
Pros of NYSC – Convenience – right at subway exit, multiple locations, 24 hours.
Pros of Printing House – rooftop pool and sundeck, looks like a nicer gym overall.
We’re gonna get a trial membership to each and see which one works best. What gym are you a member of and how much do you like it?

i used to go to bally’s, but i never really went until i joined up with a trainer. you need a workout partner – you and john should make a date of it!! otherwise, its really hard to go without motivation. =(
i’m a member of my friends apt. complex, kekeke…
I think the pool sounds AWESOME
im the epitome of a lazy ass when it comes to working out. working out for me is walking when i do errands. im scared my future husband is going to try to force me to sign up w/him a gym to work out. i think ill CONSIDER the gym after i have kids when my metabolism slows down and my body starts to look like an ahjumma body!
i started going to the gym yesterday … i was supposed to go today but my excuse is that i got called into work … what can i use as an excuse tomorrow … hmmmmm … jk … i wanna go … for at least a year this time. see how “fit” i can get.
i joined NYSC.. it’s not the BEST of the clubs, but it gets the job done. you really should go with a partner though, this way you can push each other to go.. and it’s always fun to have someone to chat with when you’re stretching and when you’re going home.
the pool does sound like a good idea though.. you work out ALOT more muscles with swimming.
currently i’m just using the gym of the hotel i’m staying at, which will end next week when my work out here is done…hehe…then i guess it’s back to DDR…and maybe running along the FDR
i do like the NYSC on 40th and 3rd tho, went there yrs ago, pretty good gym, equipment for any exercise you want to do, both free weight and machines and stretching station
i’ve heard great things about printing house. a neighbor and a friend both like it there. there’s also a crunch by you (christopher and greenwich), but i think you know that already.
I’m at Gold’s, but I’ll probably just join NYSC when I move. Maybe the extra money from spending at a high end gym, you can put towards a personal trainer – they will motivate you. Can you tell me what the other gym with the pool will cost? I’m a swimmer.
Equinox. We get a deal through work. They have lots of locations and great amenities and classes.. Hope you guys find one you like.
hi bee!
saw this on boingboing and thought of you hehe:
Adjustable spiciness hot-sauce dispenser
Dave’s Gourmet Hot Sauce — makers of the infamous Insanity Sauce — are selling an ingenious adjustable-spiciness hot sauce. The dispenser contains two compartments, one full of spicy stuff, the other full of flavorsome oil, and a dial on the top mixes the two in real-time to your spiciness specification, producing a fine, hot mist.
