I was craving steak tonight but was too lazy to get dressed up so Mr. Bee and I went to the Knickerbocker Bar and Grill just south of Union Square. It’s a really laid back place.
Mr. Bee had already had dinner so he just ordered a salad. I ordered the t-bone (their specialty) which came with mashed potatoes and creamed spinach.
Extremely generous portion of steak and sides for only $37! It’s not an awesome steak, but it’s a good steak.
My favorite NY steakhouses:
1. Striphouse (best ribeye and side dishes)
2. MarkJoseph (great service)
3. Del Frisco’s (amazing service)
I’m also a fan of Ruth’s Chris – I’ve been to many different locations and sometimes it’s great, sometimes not so great. Morton’s is also good. Wasn’t too impressed with Keens Steakhouse. I’ve never been to Peter Luger to tell you the truth – they’re famous for their porterhouse and I’m more of a ribeye fan myself. I’m determined to try all the great steaks in NY cuz I’m a consummate carnivore.
What’s your favorite steakhouse?

mm..looks very yummy! I don’t have a favourite steakhouse because B and I don’t eat steak often. I LOVE meat but he’s more of a seafood type.
I’m a ribeye guy too.
But in NYC I like:
Peter Luger
Palm
Del Frisco’s
Striphouse
peter luger’s exactly like markjoseph except the rustic atmostphere. i’d rather go to markjoseph. i love porterhouse but ribeye was so good last time i had it at a friend’s house that i wanna try one at a nice steak joint. i might have to hit up del frisco’s or striphouse soon.
Ray’s the Steaks in Arlington, VA. It’s not a pretentious place, not decorated, but amazing steaks for like $18-30. Everything there is so good.
you should try lever house. they have a sirloin for two that’s amazing! the decor is really nice and modern and we had excellent service too
i like markjoseph the most. that bread basket looks really good.
you must go to mastro’s steakhouse in beverly hills. you must. no question.
meat killer!
i’m from LA but when i visited NY i tried one steakhouse and that was Peter Lugers. It came highly recommended. You should only order the “steak for 2, medium rare”. that’s the best. I was NOT disappointed!!!
i like filet mignon. and del frisco’s my favorite but i should try markjoseph’s from your recommendations.
gotta be the filet mignon from ruth’s chris!
oh another popular place is morton’s but i don’t like it. maybe its just me but i like ruth’s chris waaaay better.
knickbocker is one of the only times i saw a celebrity and it was because hugh grant was shooting mickey blue eyes there while i was at nyu.
yummy…
Been to RC’s, Houstons, Lawry’s, need to go to Mortons, but Smith and Wullensky (hope I spelled it correctly) it was awesome, better than RC’s
But then again there’s Steve’s (your’s truely) Back yard BBQ =) LOL can’t beat my bbq recipes =) hehehe and the cut is a nice nice rack of baby back ribs =) mmmmm or Korean short ribs, now that I have the family recipe hehehe or even a nice steak, Porterhouse of course, best of both worlds baby =)
sorry to have sounded pompous and stuck up about my cooking LOL but you and Mr Bee are welcome to come over and try when back in LA =) LOL
Striphouse is by far the best in new york. I’ve been several times (always get the filet). The sides are incredible. Especially the goosefat potatoes. Awesome!
i know this is a super old post – but i couldn’t resist commenting…
i really like reading through your xanga’s, btw…
after being a pescetarian/vegetarian for well over a year – i went back to my favorite steakhouse in NYC to de-veggetize myself – BLT Steak – at 106 East 57Th St. go try it, if you haven’t – a bit on the “nicer” end of the scale, but very good service, and probably one of the best steaks i’ve ever had.
avoid quality meats, palms, and rothmans (i personally think they have some of the worst steaks in the city).
