Mr. Bee and I went to Philadelphia this past weekend for a conference he was speaking at. I couldn’t attend one of the events so I did a wee bit of shopping at Ikea instead. Ikea is so huge you literally need a couple of hours to walk through the entire place!
Of course I had to have the Swedish meatballs with lingon berry sauce…
I picked up some of their Grundtal kitchen wall accessories. I love them! This will definitely save valuable counter space and make my commonly used spices and oils (which I still have to add) easily accessible. Note: The bar doesn’t come with screws (Ikea sells them), and you’ll also need an electric drill to install it.
My two tier dish rack takes up so much counter space, I’m thinking about picking up one of these Nyled dish drainers. I won’t be able to let dishes stack up (probably a good thing), but this drainer folds up to save counter space when not in use. It can be mounted onto the pole or directly onto the wall.

I have some free kitchen wall space so I’m trying to decide what to do with it – either add shelves or a pot rack. The rail pictured below does an effective job of holding a couple of pots and lids, but I’d like something that gives me more versatility.
I also picked up a bunch of little knickknacks – organizing boxes, vases, an ironing board for $3, tealights… everything is just so darn cheap there.

I was at the Jacob Javits Center attending the National Stationery Show on Monday and the Ikea Everyday Fabulous Event happened to be across the street so I popped in. Left: That impractical wall of books would be a dream come true. Right: Ikea actually has a very nice selection of pillows. I might have purchased some from the Philly store but I don’t know what color our sofa is going to be yet.

It was a concept event where they teamed up with several textile designers to design a warehouse-like space. Not that much to see though… you’d be better off going to one of their actual stores.
But I still *heart* Ikea!
