Smokey the cat scratched our new sofa!!!! I’m home all day so she must have done it when Mr. Bee and I went out to dinner last night. I just took this picture right now – look at her… she thinks she owns the couch. And let’s face it – she does.
Apartment Therapy happened to have a post on sofa scratching cats, and one of the commenters recommended this sisal scratching post.
Here’s what one of the testimonials say:
I can’t believe how good this scratching post is! My cats absolutely love it. I have tried all different types of posts and really didn’t believe this post would be any different, but it is very different. Buck loves the rough texture and Celeste has actually stopped scratching my couch in preference for the post. I am so excited, I can finally go buy new furniture and not worry about my cats ruining it with scratch marks.
This better be true because it cost me $86!

why wouldn’t a cat still scratch both?
holy couch domain batman~
you should try trimming smokey’s claws. we do it with our cats and it helps sooooo much. the younger one we’ve been trimming since she was a kitten, but the older one was probably around 8 when we started trimming his. they’re both used to it now and it’s not too hard to get them to sit still while we do it.
also, did you know you can make your own sisal scratching post? they sell sisal rope at the hardware store. just buy some wood, nail the post to the board, then hot glue the sisal around the post. =) works great and super cheap!
Lol please let me know cause my kitten is starting to scratch bad, but was leery on spending so much to get a scratching post for it not to work. I did buy one of the carpet ones and she doesn’t like it at all!!
wow, smokey scratched the new sofa? huh…yes, looks like she owns it.
