  • I just bought 15 segments of this flor rug but in citron – a green/brown/beige color.

Flor consists of modular carpet pieces that interconnect so you can really customize size and patterns, or replace portions too.  I’ve been wanting to get some flor for awhile… I’ll let ya know how we like it!

  • Touchless Trash Can

I recently bought this trash can because I wanted one with a lid.  This one has a motion sensor and opens automatically when you get near it.  So far it’s been great!  The only problem is that my old trash can used to fit under the kitchen sink and this one doesn’t because of the lid.  Smokey the cat is also afraid of it…

  • I discovered this cool site called Walk Score via Unclutterer.

Walk Score calculates the walkability of an address by locating nearby stores, restaurants, schools, parks, etc.

I put in our address, and it showed that our neighborhood is 98% walkable.  Woohoo!

After 3 years, I’m getting sick of living in the city to tell you the truth.  A suburban/more rural existence suits me much better.  But meanwhile I heart our neighborhood and wouldn’t want to live anywhere else in Manhattan.

  • I come across so many cool things in my blogging adventures, I only wish I had the time to share all of them with you.

But I did want to mention a new Bravo tv show premiering this month that I’m super excited about.  It’s called Flipping Out, and it’s about a guy who flips multimillion dollar houses in LA, but…. he has OCD!  His super obsessiveness and attention to detail drive his staff crazy but it’ll prolly make for some good television.

Home remodeling/design shows on HGTV, the Style network, TLC, A&E are my obsession, and this show has a twist that sounds really interesting.  Can’t wait!

  • Long time no blog, huh?  Well I’m trying to get back into blogging regularly so hopefully I can update this site more often.

There’s one thing I’ve been coveting lately – a wireless charging station

    wildcharge

It’s been making all the rounds on the blogs, most recently on Unclutterer (a site about organizing that I’ve been digging lately).

    Available July 9th, for $49.

  • justabride posted this idea on her blog, and I love it!  Separate and organize all your frozen foods into large labeled containers so you can always find what you’re looking for.

I don’t have time this week, but I’ll definitely do it next week and take pictures!  Thanks for the tip!

  • Wow the vinegar + baking soda did an awesome job of unclogging our shower drain.  So to keep it clog free, I recently purchased one of these hair drain covers from our local hardware store.

It’s kinda nasty how much hair it catches after each shower.  Well worth the $2 investment!

  • Update: I poured the baking soda/vinegar down our bathtub, kitchen sink, and toilet.  Here’s a video of the reaction on my kitchen sink…  ooo exciting!

The verdict: My bathtub is draining a lot better, but still not perfectly.  There’s probably a nest of my hair stuck in down there.  It worked great on the kitchen sink though, so I will continue to do it regularly.

I saw a blog on apartmenttherapy about unclogging your drains with baking soda and vinegar.

    baking sodavinegar

    1. Pour 1/2 cup of baking soda down the drain

    2. Follow with 1 cup of hot white vinegar heated in microwave

    3. Wait 5-10 minutes or until it stops bubbling and wash with boiling water

This is environmentally safe and inexpensive!  Our bathtub has been draining really slowly lately, probably because of the massive amounts of hair I shed.  I’m gonna try this today on our bathtub and kitchen sink, and I’ll let you know how it works!

  • I was just cleaning my refrigerator, and there was this dried sticky gunk that I couldn’t get off with Fantastik and a paper towel.  So I busted out the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser I bought awhile back, but never used.

OMG this thing is amazing!  It removed the stain with virtually no effort!  It’s my new favorite cleaning product.

Yeah I’m cleaning my refrigerator at 2 am Saturday morning.
