Update: I poured the baking soda/vinegar down our bathtub, kitchen sink, and toilet. Here’s a video of the reaction on my kitchen sink… ooo exciting!
The verdict: My bathtub is draining a lot better, but still not perfectly. There’s probably a nest of my hair stuck in down there. It worked great on the kitchen sink though, so I will continue to do it regularly.

I saw a blog on apartmenttherapy about unclogging your drains with baking soda and vinegar.
- Pour 1/2 cup of baking soda down the drain
- Follow with 1 cup of hot white vinegar heated in microwave
- Wait 5-10 minutes or until it stops bubbling and wash with boiling water
This is environmentally safe and inexpensive! Our bathtub has been draining really slowly lately, probably because of the massive amounts of hair I shed. I’m gonna try this today on our bathtub and kitchen sink, and I’ll let you know how it works!
